HOW DOES A SPRAY TAN WORK? The active ingredient in all self-tanning formulas is dihydroxyacetone, also known as DHA. DHA is naturally derived from plants such as sugarcane and beets. It creates a tanned appearance by reacting with amino acids on the surface of the skin. In addition to DHA, all spray tan solutions contain cosmetic bronzers which provide immediate color for instant gratification and acts as a guide for your spray tan artist during the application. During your first shower the cosmetic bronzer will rinse off. You may think your tan has washed away, but this is normal. Over the next 24 hours the active ingredient, DHA will fully develop and you will see your true tan results.
IS A SPRAY TAN SAFE? A sunless spray tan is the only safe and healthy way to tan! My spray tan solutions are paraben free, gluten free, cruelty free, sulfate free, nut allergen free, and 100% vegan, and contain vitamins and antioxidants.
HOW LONG DOES A SPRAY TAN LAST? A spray tan can last anywhere from 5-10 days. Following all of the pre-tan prep and post-tan aftercare is crucial to ensure a flawless application and a long lasting tan. Other factors such as: lifestyle, skin conditions, hormones, medications, antibiotics, and activities can play a role in how long your tan lasts.
WILL I BE ORANGE? This is the most common asked question and the answer is NO! My spray tan solutions have a unique blend of anti-orange bronzer pigments designed to counter unwanted orange undertones.
WILL IT PROTECT ME FROM THE SUN? Although you may look and feel like you have a real tan, a spray tan provides your skin with no real sun protection. I highly recommend wearing sunscreen when out in the sun. I have a list of spray tan friendly sunscreens in my "post tan" section.
WILL IT STAIN MY CLOTHES, HAIR OR NAILS? There is a chance that the solution may rub off on clothing. The solution is will come off of most clothing/fabrics when washed. To minimize the chance of the solution transferring or staining, wear or bring loose-fitting dark clothing to put on after your tan. The solution will not discolor your nails, polish, or hair. I provide a protective hair cap for each client to wear during the session and wipe down your palms, fingernails and toenails at the end of the session.
CAN I SPRAY TAN IF I'M PREGNANT? My sunless solutions are safe for expecting moms. But I always recommend consulting with your doctor first and I'm happy to send you a list of the ingredients in my solutions.
