Frequently asked questions
A sunless spray tan is the only safe and healthy way to tan! Our spray tan solutions are paraben free, gluten free, cruelty free, sulfate free, nut allergen free, and vegan, and contain vitamins and antioxidants.
The active ingredient in all self-tanning formulas is dihydroxyacetone, also known as DHA. DHA is naturally derived from plants such as sugarcane and beets. It creates a tanned appearance by reacting with amino acids on the surface of the skin. In addition to DHA, most spray tan solutions contain cosmetic bronzers which provide immediate color during a spray tanning session and works as a “color guide” on the skin. During your first shower the cosmetic bronzer will rinse off. You may think your tan has washed away, but this is normal. Over the next 24 hours the active ingredient, DHA will fully develop and you will see your true tan results.
A spray tan can last anywhere from 5-10+ days. Following all of the recommended pre-tan prep and post-tan aftercare is crucial to ensure a flawless application and a long lasting tan. Other factors such as: lifestyle, skin conditions, hormones, medications, antibiotics, and activities can play a role in how long your tan lasts.
We offer a variety of tan options to cater to each individual client. One tan option is not better than the other! All of our tan options will last the same amount of time when following our pre tan prep and post tan aftercare. We provide a consultation at your appointment to determine what will be best for you. If you’re unsure about which tan option to book, choose what you think you want for now and we'll finalize the details in person.
Signature: A custom bronzer tan with an 8-12 hour rinse time
Rapid: A custom bronzer tan with a 2-6 hour rinse time
Clear: A bronzer free tan with a 2-5 hour rinse time
Sweat Resistant: Your choice of a custom bronzer or clear tan with a 2-6 or 8-12 hour rinse time
This is the most common asked question and the answer is NO! We are highly trained and educated on color theory. When selecting the custom color for your tan we factor in your skin type, skin tone and undertones to determine what will provide the most natural results and counter any unwanted orange undertones.
Although you may look and feel like you have a real tan, a spray tan provides your skin with no real sun protection. We highly recommend wearing sunscreen when out in the sun. You want to avoid aerosol based sunscreens and tanning oils. Please contact us for our list of recommended spray tan friendly sunscreens.
There is a chance that the solution may rub off on clothing. The solution will come off of most clothing/fabrics when washed. To minimize the chance of the solution transferring or staining, wear or bring loose-fitting dark clothing to put on after your tan.
The solution will not discolor your hair, nails or nail polish. We provide a protective hair cap for each client to wear during the session and wipe down your palms, fingernails and toenails at the end of the session.
We have sprayed numerous moms to be with no issues. But every pregnancy is different. Since we are not the medical professionals, we recommend checking with your doctor first to get their approval. We are happy to send you the ingredients in all of our products and solutions to consult with your doctor.
We use the industries safest, top of the line products and ingredients and are fully equipped with state of the art extraction units to alleviate overspray inhalation for both our clients and spray tan artists.
In studio appointments:
All in studio appointments must be booked through our booking site. It has the most up to date availability and is a quick, convenient way to make/change an appointment at your leisure with full access to our policies, schedules and prices. Our priority is to avoid mishaps and miscommunication errors when calling/texting our clients. With that being said, when making the selection between our different tan options on the booking site rest assured that we have all tan options available so if you need to make a change we are fully equipped!
Mobile appointments:
All mobile appointments must be booked directly through us. Please TEXT 631-762-4943 with:
-Your first and last name
-Your full address that we will be traveling to
-Your availability and desired date(s) and time(s),
-Your preferred tan option
-The reason for your tan (wedding, special event, vacation, etc.)
We are available Monday through Friday and work by appointment only.
Pre-booking all appointments 3-4 weeks in advance is highly recommended to get your desired dates + times.
We recommend booking your tan 2-3 days prior to an event and 1-2 days prior to your departure for a vacation.
At Tanned by Taylor we value both our clients and staff. To ensure optimal service and accommodate all of our clients efficiently, we strictly enforce our policies. We understand that life happens out of our control from time to time which is why our booking system offers flexibility by allowing you to easily cancel or reschedule your appointment. We encourage clients to notify us as early as possible with any changes to avoid potential fees.
Bookings:
Please be advised that we do not accept same day bookings. All appointments must be booked at least 24 hours in advance. This ensures that our clients have the adequate amount of time to follow our pre-tan prep instructions that need to be done 24 hours prior to their appointment.
We require a valid card on file to schedule all appointments. Your card will not be charged upon booking. You can choose to pay with the card on file, a different card or cash on the day of your appointment. The card on file will only be charged in the event of a late cancel, reschedule or a no call/no show.
Cancellations/Rescheduling:
We require 24 hours notice when cancelling or rescheduling all appointments:
-Cancelling your appointment less than 24 hours in advance will result in being charged 50% of the service booked.
-Rescheduling your appointment less than 24 hours in advance will result in being charged 50% of the service booked.
-Same day cancellations and no call/no show clients will be charged 100% of the service booked.
Late Arrivals:
We allow a 5-10 minute grace period for late arrivals. Arriving later than that will result in your appointment being cancelled and being charged 50% of the service booked.
If you are running late, please call or text 631-762-4943 with your name, appointment time and ETA to get in touch with us as soon as possible!
We accept cash and all major credit cards. There is a processing fee on all card transactions that will be added to the total of your service.
All services, packages and products are final sale.
Packages are non-transferable, cannot be shared and must be used by or before the expiration date.
