frequently asked questions

How does a spray tan work?

The active ingredient in all self-tanning formulas

is dihydroxyacetone, commonly known as DHA.

DHA is naturally derived from plants such as sugarcane and beets.

It creates a tanned appearance by reacting with amino acids on the surface of the skin.

In addition to DHA, our spray tan solutions contain cosmetic bronzer which provides

immediate color results for instant gratification and acts as a color guide.

During your first shower the cosmetic bronzer will rinse off.

You may think your tan has washed away, but this is normal.

Over the next 24 hours the active ingredient, DHA

will fully develop and you will see your true tan results.

Is spray tanning safe?

A sunless spray tan is the only safe and healthy way to tan!

All of my spray tan solutions are paraben free, gluten free,

cruelty free, sulfate free, nut allergen free, and 100% vegan.

Some of my spray tan solutions are also organically derived

and contain skin-firming and anti-aging vitamins.

How long does a spray tan last?

A spray tan can last anywhere from 5-10 days.

How you prep for your tan, how you take care of your tan,

and other factors like your lifestyle, skin conditions,

hormones, medications, antibiotics, and activities

can play a role in how long your tan lasts.

On average, most clients will get 7-8 days out of their spray tan

when following the pre-tan prep and post-tan aftercare.

Will I be orange?

This is my most frequently asked question and the answer to that is NO!

My spray tan solutions have a unique blend of anti-orange bronzer

pigments designed to counter unwanted orange undertones.

Should I book a trial?

I highly recommend booking a trial tan

1-2 months before all major events.

During the trial I work with you to find the perfect color,

go over all of the details and answer any questions you may have.

Booking a trial tan helps you decide if you want to go lighter, darker,

or stay with the color we chose at your trial for your event.

This will also help you get comfortable with the tanning process

if you're not familiar with spray tanning, or if this will be your first time.

Can I get a spray tan if I'm pregnant?

Yes! My sunless solutions are safe for expecting moms.

But I always recommend consulting with your doctor first

and I'm happy to send you a list of ingredients.

Will a spray tan protect my skin from the sun?

Although you may look and feel like you have a real tan,

a spray tan provides your skin with no real sun protection.

I highly recommend wearing sunscreen when out in the sun.

I have a list of spray tan friendly sunscreens in my "post tan" section.

Will a spray tan stain my clothes, nails or hair?

There is a chance that the solution may rub off on clothing.

The solution is will come off   of most clothing/fabrics when washed.

To minimize the chance of the solution transferring or staining,

wear or bring loose-fitting dark clothing to put on after your tan.

The solution will not discolor your nails, polish, or hair.

I provide a protective hair cap for each client to wear during the session

and wipe down your palms, fingernails and toenails at the end of the session.
